sculptor, cinema artistWinner of the Lithuanian National Culture and Art Prize

Deimantas Narkevičius, a winner of the Lithuanian National Prize, sculptor and creator of video art, graduated from the Academy of Arts in 1994. His works have been exhibited at 25 international art biennials, including Venetian, Sao Paulo, Istanbul, Gwangiu, and Sculpture projects in Münster (2007). The artist has organised 40 solo exhibitions at art institutions of international importance. Narkevičius’s works have been exhibited in almost 300 exhibitions and 50 international film festivals.

His works have been acquired and exhibited by dozens of art institutions and private collectors. These include MoMA in New York, the Pompidou Centre in Paris, the Tate Modern in London, the National Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid, the French National Collection, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, and the Lithuanian Museum of Art in Vilnius.

In 2008, he was awarded with the Vincent Award (a Dutch prize awarded to a European artist whose works are deemed highly relevant in contemporary art) and Lithuanian National Culture and Art Prize. In 2018, Narkevičius won the main prize at the Oberhausen Short Film Festival.

He has been teaching at the Department of Sculpture at the Vilnius Academy of Arts since 2012 and is a professor since 2016.
