Arturas Valiauga is an artist and lecturer with a Bachelor's degree in Photographic Technology from Vilnius College of Technology and Design and a Master's degree in Photography and Media Art from the Vilnius Academy of Arts.
Since 2024, he has been a lecturer at Vilniaus Kolegija. From 2012 to 2024, he lectured at Vilnius College of Technology and Design, while also leading the practical course Portrait at Vilnius College of Design from 2015 to 2021. Earlier, in 2010–2011, he lectured at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.
He has been a member of the Lithuanian Photographers Association since 1992 and joined the Lithuanian Artists' Union in 2023.
Since 1990, A. Valiauga has been actively showcasing his work in photography and media art exhibitions. He has held over 30 solo shows and taken part in more than 50 group projects both in Lithuania and abroad. His work consistently delves into themes of social and national identity, tracing their evolution while thoughtfully examining the concept of home and its visual manifestations. His work has been showcased at Casino Luxembourg, Pori Art Museum, Kumu Art Museum, Museum Folkwang, the Lithuanian National Museum of Art, the Contemporary Art Centre, Kunstencentrum Z33, Museum am Ostwall, among others.
Valiauga’s works are part of the collections of the MO Museum, the Lithuanian National Museum of Art, the European Central Bank, as well as numerous private collections. Valiauga’s work has been widely examined in both Lithuanian and international art publications and is the subject of four published monographs. He has taken part in a range of international initiatives, including the Ars Baltica Art Triennial, the EU-Japan Fest, and projects under the International Photography and Research Network (IPRN).
Valiauga’s achievements include the Lithuanian Photographers Association Prize (2002), the Balys Buračas Art Prize (2015), and the Grand Prize at the Kodak European Panorama photography competition during the Rencontres d'Arles festival (1995), among others.
