Ramunė Marcinkevičiūtė
Theatre scholar, doctor of humanities, and professor at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre
Ramunė Marcinkevičiūtė, a theatre scholar, Doctor of Humanities, and Professor at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, served as Head of the Department of History and Theory of Art from 2002 to 2011 and as Vice-Rector for Arts from 2011 to 2022 at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
She has served multiple terms as a member of various cultural and artistic councils and has acted as an expert on numerous commissions. Member of the Association of Performing Arts Critics.
R. Marcinkevičiūtė explores the development of 20th-century and contemporary European and Lithuanian performing arts, with a special focus on the art of directing. She has published the books Eimuntas Nekrošius: The Space Behind Words (Lith. Eimuntas Nekrošius: erdvė už žodžių) (2002) and Realism of Experience. A Study of Dalia Tamulevičiūtė’s Creative Biography (Lith. Patirčių realizmas. Dalios Tamulevičiūtės kūrybinės biografijos studija) (2011) and is a co-author of the book Contemporary Lithuanian Theatre. Names and Performances (2019) and the collective monograph Shakespeare's Reception and Interpretation in the Baltics (2023). Her writings on a range of theatre topics have been published across Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Italy, the United Kingdom, Norway, Croatia, and South Korea.
